Part I: The Origin of AIFC

10. Values and Purpose Became the Top Layer

1 min read

At this stage, the question appeared:

If AI helps us move faster, how do we know we are moving in the right direction?

Speed alone is not enough.

AI can accelerate:

  • useful work,
  • wrong work,
  • outdated work,
  • misaligned work,
  • unsafe work,
  • meaningless work,
  • work that creates dependency.

Therefore, the system needs a top layer.

That top layer is:

values
+
purpose

Values define what must not be sacrificed.

Purpose defines why the community exists and what direction gives work meaning.

Strategy becomes the path.

Work becomes execution.

AI becomes acceleration.

This led to one of the central AIFC insights:

AI must not own purpose. AI may help formulate, test, explain and operationalize purpose. But humans or the responsible community must own it.

Values are not decoration.

They are governance.

If values do not affect decisions, they are only slogans.
